That time, in kind of a Sidd Finch way, L.A. Dodgers’ coach Leo Durocher (left) takes a ball off the head,
some eight blocks away from the baseball park, then comes to find out he’s discovered the ‘Next Big
Thing’ in the sport.

The Munsters aired on CBS from 1964-66. On April 8, 1965, the episode entitled “Herman the Rookie” aired. It featured Herman Munster’s tryout with the Los Angeles Dodgers thanks to Leo Durocher getting plunked by a ball several blocks away.

Ultimately, the Dodgers’ took a pass because they felt it might be too dangerous to his teammates and opponents. We found a wonderful little piece on YouTube about this episode and the series, in general. You’re able to find it at the below.
