Host Doug Hill was fortunate to have a connection to the parents of Evan Bates, one half of the U.S. Figure Skating’s 7-time National Ice Dancing Champions, Madison Chock and Evan Bates. Oh yeah, the duo’s also won the past three World Championships! Anyhow, Doug’s connection – Evan’s uncle, Karl – was able to put him in touch parents Eric and Nancy Bates and they were simply a joy to talk to. The pride in their son’s accomplishments nearly oozed through the Internet connection as well as anxious nervousness they’re feeling heading into the what figures to be the pair’s final competitive performances during the Milano-Cortina Olympics.
