It seemed appropriate to dust off a professional wrestler for this week’s Fan Teaser, what with news leaking that World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is being sold to noted sportswasher, the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, in a rumored-to-be multi-billion dollar deal.
This week’s teaser was the unmistakable “claw” of Baron von Raschke, an active professional wrestler from 1966-1996. A decorated amateur wrestler from Omaha, NE, and on to the University of Nebraska, von Raschke also played two seasons of football for the Cornhuskers before venturing north to Minnesota to embark on a professional wrestling career.

And for those of you looking for a little nostalgia, here’s Six-Man Tag Team Championship match pitting The Koloff Brothers (Nikita and Ivan) and Krusher Kruschev against Baron von Raschke, Dick the Bruiser, and The Crusher from September 28, 1985 on the field at Chicago’s Comiskey Park while the White Sox were out in Oakland. The legacy of Bill Veeck lived on, apparently.
