When you discover an opportunity to speak to a scientist who has a hand in ensuring one of the world’s grandest sporting events comes off without a hitch, well, you pursue it. That’s what host Doug Hill did when he discovered that Michigan State University professor Dr. Trey Rogers was one of the leads on a team of agronomists who developed and executed the plan for growing, harvesting, and installing the pitches (i.e., fields) used at all 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup sites.
