Doug became acquainted with Bruce while the working at the Ann Arbor News in the early 1990s. As the University of Michigan’s sports information director, Bruce had a presence at nearly every event Doug covered on campus. Despite being familiar with him a little bit, Doug had no idea how ardent a sports fan Bruce is nor how diverse his interests were.
