Dennis was Doug’s 11th grade English teacher at Lakeview High School. It was a dream scenario (at least it was for Doug;-) as the two both had a deep love of sports. Dennis was known to be an avid trading card and autograph collector so there was a natural connection there. Dennis was instrumental in bringing sports card shows to LHS and Doug was a frequent attendee. The two had not seen or spoken to each other since the late 1980s so this was truly a trip down memory lane and a pretty cool experience for Doug. Dennis’s story of how he wound up on the field at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium during batting practice prior to Hank Aaron hitting his 715th homerun is unreal.
