Tom was a co-worker of Doug’s at the Eastern Michigan University student newspaper, The Eastern Echo. While Doug was in the sports department and Tom in the news, it was pretty evident Tom was a sports fan as well. The two reconnected years later through the beauty of Facebook and discovered they lived near each other. Tom’s still a fan of the reds – the Detroit Red Wings and the bold wines.
