Martin and Doug go back to the early 1990s during their days in the sports department at the Ann Arbor News. Martin preceded Doug as the University of Michigan ice hockey writer. A native of Westchester County, New York, Martin brings some east coach perspective to Conversations and discusses his longstanding fandom of the New York Mets, Jets, and Rangers. He also shares some of his recollections of the University of Michigan football team, which was instrumental in him choosing to matriculate to the Ann Arbor campus.
