Fun Facts

  • Traveling Party – Doug was solo on this trip
  • Last Time Visited – Doug was just in Toronto 13 days prior for Events No. 27 and No. 28. … He’d previously been to MLB World Series in Detroit in 2012 (Game 3) and 1984 (Games 3 & 4). … His previous trips to the Rogers’ Centre (then Skydome) occurred in 2007 and 2008 with family members.
  • An Amped Crowd – It took me about 30 seconds after I stepped off the train in Toronto’s Union Station to get a feel for how ready for this game the City of Toronto was. Fans, and just everyday citizens, seemingly were all wearing Blue Jays’ garb. The closer I got to the Rogers Centre the more evident it was that this city, this province, this nation was ready for the game and – hopefully – celebrate.
  • Missed Opportunity -This was the 121st MLB World Series. It was, quite likely, my only opportunity to see the final game of a MLB season and was, in large part, a reason I chose to go all-in on attending Game 6. Disappointed in the outcome would be an understatement. Even more disappointingly, after getting about an hour of sleep total over the previous 36 hours, I couldn’t make it past the fifth inning of the decisive Game 7. (Which we all know now became an instant classic.) Thankfully, these days replays are plentiful and also nearly instantaneous. What a brutal way to lose the World Series. Sigh:-(
