- Traveling Party – Doug and his father, Jerry
- Last Time Visited – Doug visited with his family in May 2018. Jerry had never visited.
- Quarter of the Way Complete – The visit to this tiny farm in Dyersville, IA, was officially Event No. 20 of the Around the World in 80 Sporting Events which means I’m now 25% complete to get to the Jules Verne-inspired 80 by the time I’m 60. There’s plenty of ground to cover over the next couple years but I’m here for the challenge.
- Still a Working Farm – That’s real corn in the field. And, it would appear, at least some of that corn winds up getting turned into mash, fermented, and turned into Bourbon Whiskey. Field of Dreams Whiskey Company, owned by collective of current and former MLB players, FoD Whiskey has harvested over 10 billion kernels of Field of Dreams Corn as part of its distilling process.
- Concerts in August – While there won’t be any professional baseball played again this summer in Dyersville, there are major concerts scheduled on back-to-back nights in August. On the 30th, Tim McGraw headlines a bill that includes seven acts beginning at 1 p.m. On the 31st, Nickelback headlines the Velocity Music Festival that features eight acts and begins at noon.
