Conversations with Sports Fans – Carl Meyer

This week’s Conversations’ guest, Carl Meyer, is deeply involved with the Hire Heroes USA organization.

“If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.”

Dalai Lama XIV

This quote, attributed to the Dalai Lama, has served as a bit of a guidepost for this week’s guest on Conversations with Sports Fans.

Carl Meyer, a Wisconsin healthcare executive, has dedicated himself for the past 18 years to make a difference in the lives of U.S. military veterans and their spouses. Beginning in 2007, Carl has endeavored to play at least 100 holes of golf every Fourth of July to fundraise for the Hire Heroes USA, an organization that helps transition ex-military personnel to the civilian workforce.

To date, Carl has raised $1.9 million and should top the $2 million mark in 2026, the country’s semiquincentennial (aka 250th birthday).
