Fun Facts
Traveling Party – Me and my friend, Rob.
Last Time Visited – I was last at a University of Michigan home football game in November 25, 1995, the opponent was Ohio State. Rob had not attended a UM-OSU game previously and had only been to one other UM game.
That’s a Lot of People – I referenced this in my blog post, but the 111,373 in attendance made Michigan Stadium the seventh largest city in Michigan for several hours. What are the top six, you ask: Detroit (638,530), Grand Rapids (198,535), Warren (137,928), Sterling Heights (133,573), Ann Arbor (122,036), and Lansing (113,023). Next on the list is Dearborn (107,423).
Where Did the Flyover Come From!?! – A group of four F-15E Strike Eagles from the 389th Fighter Squadron (Mountain Home Air Force Base) flew over Michigan Stadium near the “Star-Spangled Banner” conclusion. While the quartet of fighters took off from Selfridge Air National Guard base northeast of Detroit, their home base is located in southwestern Idaho! Wonder what the cost is/was to have the four of them travel to southeast Michigan and then conduct the fly over? And who gets the bill?
