Conversations with Sports Fans – Neal Rubin

Neal Rubin from the Detroit Free Press is my guest in this episode.

A natural storyteller, Neal Rubin is a columnist at the Detroit Free Press. He tends to see things from different perspectives (at least in my opinion) and that lends itself to reads that touch on one’s emotions nearly every time he’s published.

His ability to spin yarns in print also shines through in conversation which made his one of the more enjoyable Conversations I’ve engaged in. Neal’s life experiences have taken him from the shores of the Pacific Ocean to the mountains of Colorado to the desert of Las Vegas and, ultimately, to the Pleasant Peninsula that is Michigan.

My regret is that it’s taken so long to publish his episode. We recorded in late April, but for a variety of reasons his remained on the shelf these past few months until today. Like barrel-aged whiskey, my sincere belief that my time with Neal will be all the smoother after some time in the rickhouse.

One final reminder, the deadline to win the signed copy of previous guest, Len Berman’s book The 25 Greatest Baseball Players of All Time is midnight ET, Monday, August 4. Please use this Google Form to enter.
